My name is Kayla Peterson, and I am a Speech Language Pathologist, founder and owner of Connect the Dots Pediatric Therapy LLC. I started this journey because I have a passion to help guide children and families to communication success and create a path for them to discover a positive outlook for their future.
I attended Kansas State University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Communication Science and Disorders in 2012 and my Masters of Science in Communication Science and Disorders in 2014. I received my Certificate of Clinical Competence in 2015 which is a nationally recognized credential awarded by the American Speech Language Hearing Association. I continue to maintain this certification.
I have gained extensive experience in the field of Speech Language Pathology by working in a wide variety of settings including public schools, home visits, and clinic based settings. I have experience treating a multitude of speech and language disorders ranging from birth to adulthood.
I believe establishing strong positive relationships with both children and their families is the key to successfully making progress and reaching long term goals.

Kansas State University was my home away from home for 6 years where I received my Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2016 and my Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology in 2018. Communication is a key factor in our daily lives and every child deserves a voice that will allow them to not only meet their basic wants and needs, but foster strong relationships within their everyday lives as they grow.
I have worked in a variety of settings including pediatric outpatient settings, school settings, and inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. Within each of these settings, I have worked with a variety of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, articulation and phonology disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), as well as language and global developmental delays.
I believe that creating welcoming environments where children can be themselves creates opportunities for them to make progress towards their long term goals. I enjoy working with families to help them in meeting their children’s needs. When I am not at work, I enjoy Kansas State University sports, watching the Chiefs, reading, gardening, and spending time with my husband.

Hi! My name is Hattie Gorman. I am a board-certified pediatric and adolescent occupational therapist. I graduated with my doctorate degree from Creighton University in 2012. I have worked in pediatrics since graduation in various settings, including outpatient clinics, schools, and telehealth. My clinical focus has been in the areas of primitive reflexes, oculomotor, vision/vestibular, early intervention, feeding and sensory processing. I have completed certifications for feeding therapy, including Feed the Peds, the SOS approach, and Beckman oral motor. I believe one of the most important parts of therapy is to incorporate a child’s interests in order to build positive relationships and reach their full potential.
In my free time, I likes to hang out with her chocolate Lab, Hank, cheer on the Chiefs and Creighton basketball, and spend time with family and friends.

Hi! My name is Emma Heinen. I am a Speech Language Pathologist licensed in Kansas and Missouri. I'm driven to provide quality speech and language intervention to children and families, while having fun along the way! I believe therapy that is child-led, strength-based, and focused on play, can produce great success. When I am working with a child, I focus on the connection between us, so I can foster their communication skills in a fun and functional way.
I attended the University of Kansas to receive my Bachelor of Arts in Speech Language Hearing Pathology with a minor in Spanish in 2018, and Masters of Arts in Speech Language Pathology in 2021. I was awarded with the Jacob Rockwell Osman Award for Outstanding Student in Pediatric Speech Language Pathology. Since graduating, I have worked in an Elementary school serving students who are English Language Learners, as well as multiple private practices treating children with various speech and language diagnoses.
My favorite aspect of my profession is the depth of our scope of practice. While I feel comfortable treating speech sound disorders, late talkers, and working with Augmentative and Alternative Communication, I enjoy taking on clients who have skill sets that lead me to learn about a new area in our field. When we work together, I want the child and parents to feel understood, accepted, and that they are an equal part of the treatment team. I can't wait to meet you!
